What's it all about....

The older I get, the grumpier I get, or so it seems and I am only 39, which doesn't bode well for my demeanour during my twilight years. It is a common phenomenon, I am told, that men in their latter years become disgruntled and dissatisfied. Apparently this is something to do with a decline in testosterone levels and if that is true then I can completely understand where they are coming from. Loss of a possession as fundamental to one's life as that could well tap a seam of bitterness in an otherwise sunny disposition. Equally, though, I am fairly sure that that is not my problem - not yet at least.

Lets be clear here, I am not particularly happy about this situation. In fact, the fact that I am becoming grumpier leaves me feeling decidedly, well, grumpy. It is becoming more common, nevertheless. Common enough that in idle moments it prompts at least casual introspection on the subject. What is it that is causing this unpleasant facet of my character to manifest?

I fear that the answer is that, far from accelerated progression into physical decline, I am becoming old before my time in an entirely different way. I am becoming part of the 'is it me' generation. I have joined the ranks of those weary souls who look at the world every day with incredulity at the lack of common sense that abounds and find themselves holding their heads in their collective hands at the stupidity of it all.

...And so this blog is born. One more small voice in the wilderness calling out against the absurd reality that surrounds us. The venting of my spleen at injustices suffered each and every day we live as part of a human race, bound together in a struggle to survive in a world gone mad.

So why the title? Well it is easy really: 'Obfuscations' because most often the rhetoric that we encounter, be it on the news, from politicians, from the guy next to us at the bar, or from our own mouths is almost always designed to bend the truth, if only a little, to a certain way of thinking. Truth after all is subjective. 'Thoughts' because these are most certainly my thoughts. I do not claim that they are right, I do not claim that they are relevant, and I most certainly do not apologise for them. I do, however, welcome responses.

I hope you enjoy reading.
